You can always click the grey arrow (which takes you to your home page with the textarea filled up). But yes, that's inconvenient (and kinda beats the purpose of the script). The script is just a way to quickly reply to a person if you remember something while on their profile.

And BasicAuth will stay for about 6 months after oAuth goes primary — so that apps can port themselves over. Then they'll turn it off.

You could put in a link to http://twitter.com/home?status=@name
Maybe less conveniant? It means you don't need username/pass though.
Also, don't expect BasicAuth to go away. They're adding OAuth, not taking BA away, AFAIK

There is GreaseKit (http://8-p.info/greasekit/), which kinda does that. But InputManagers are so yuck! Plus, Safari 4 manages to throttle most of them (since it's beta). But eitherway, I choose to stay away from SIMBL hacks as much as I can. You can use this with that if you want though. Let me know if something doesn't work, and I'll have a look into it.

Isn't there some plugin using which one can install Greasemonkey scripts in Safari? I just think Safari is more fun to use than Firefox on a Mac :)
